Privacy Policy
Wellness Wheel (mywellnesswheel.com) is a free personal reflection tool run by Fabien Hacker. This policy explains what information the site handles, where it goes, and the choices you have. It's written to be read, so it's short.
The short version
- Your check-ins are saved in your own browser, on your own device.
- There are no accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking, and your information is never sold.
- Sync is optional. If you turn it on, your entries are encrypted on your device before they leave it, so no one else can read them, including the person who runs this site.
- You can delete everything at any time.
What the site stores, and where
On your device. Your scores, notes, the optional "why" answers, your optional first name, and your settings are saved in your browser's local storage. They stay there until you clear them. They are not sent anywhere unless you turn on sync.
On the server, only if you turn on sync. When sync is on, your entries and your optional first name are encrypted on your device using your sync code, then stored on the server along with a version number and the time of the last update. The server stores a scrambled identifier derived from your code, never the code itself, and has no way to unlock the data. Anyone who has your sync code can open your synced entries, so keep it private.
To stop people guessing sync codes. When a sync code lookup doesn't find anything, the server keeps a scrambled (one-way hashed) version of your network's IP address and a count for about 10 to 20 minutes, then deletes it automatically.
Backup files. If you download a backup, that file is saved wherever you choose. It isn't encrypted, so store it somewhere you trust.
Health-related information
Your check-ins describe how parts of your life are going, such as your emotional, physical, or financial wellbeing, so they can be health-related. They are used only to show you your wheel, history, trends, and reports. They are never sold, never shared for advertising, and never shared with anyone else. Synced entries are encrypted so they can't be read by the site or its host.
Services that help run the site
- Cloudflare hosts the site and the sync storage. Like any web host, it handles your IP address and basic request details (such as browser type and the page requested) to deliver the site, protect it from abuse, and keep short-term technical logs. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts provides the typefaces, and cdnjs (run by Cloudflare) provides the code that draws sync QR codes. Loading these means those services receive your IP address and browser details. See Google Fonts privacy.
- Google Calendar, only if you tap the Google Calendar reminder button. It opens Google Calendar with the reminder's day, time, and title filled in. Google's own privacy policy applies there.
None of these services receive your check-in scores or notes.
What the site doesn't do
- No accounts, passwords, or email sign-up.
- No advertising, analytics, tracking cookies, or tracking across other sites. Because nothing tracks you, "Do Not Track" browser signals don't change how the site works.
- No selling or renting of personal information.
Your choices
- See your data: everything is visible in the app, and Download backup gives you a full copy.
- Change it: edit any score, note, or your name in the app.
- Delete synced data: use Delete synced copy in the sync section. It's removed from the server right away.
- Delete everything on a device: clear this site's data in your browser settings.
Because the site can't read synced data or link it to you, it can't look up your entries for you. If you have a question or request about your data, email fabien.hacker@gmail.com.
Security
Synced data is encrypted on your device with AES-GCM using a key made from your sync code, and the connection to the site is always HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, so keep your sync code and backup files private.
Children
Wellness Wheel is meant for people 13 and older and isn't directed at children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used sync, contact us and we'll help remove it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date.
